Position Overview
As a Senior Engineering Surveyor, you will be responsible for conducting a variety of engineering, construction, and topographic surveys to support project delivery. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and construction teams to ensure accurate data collection, plan preparation, and site set‐out. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to operate efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
* Surveying – Perform engineering, construction, and topographic surveys including earthworks, civil concrete, feature and contour surveys, and infrastructure and pipeline projects. Calculate alignments, conduct ground surveys, prepare road designs for field set‐out and machine control systems, calculate volumes and area quantities, revise designs to adapt to evolving site conditions, and ensure compliance with Main Roads WA specifications.
* Data Management and Plan Preparation – Record and process accurate field data using modern surveying equipment and software. Prepare digital models, plans, and reports using AutoCAD, LisCAD, or other relevant software, and ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
* Client Liaison and Satisfaction – Work closely with engineers, project managers, and contractors to ensure seamless workflow. Communicate survey findings clearly to the construction team, provide guidance to junior surveyors and field assistants as needed.
* Key Duties – Conduct site surveys for land, construction, and engineering projects; establish control points, levels, and alignments on‐site; take accurate measurements using total stations, GPS, and other surveying tools; analyse and process collected data; assist in generating maps, plans, and technical reports; verify supplied plans against project specifications; follow industry regulations and company procedures; maintain survey equipment; identify and resolve discrepancies between survey data and construction plans.
Skills and Qualifications
* Degree or Diploma in Surveying.
* 3+ years experience in a similar role.
* Strong analytical and problem‐solving skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
* Understanding of 3D laser scanning (desirable).
* Knowledge of Water Corporation's Design Standards – DS80 (desirable).
