About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Geologist to support our coal seam gas assessment projects.
This hands-on position includes both field and laboratory responsibilities, providing valuable practical experience across a broad range of geological tasks.
You'll gain exposure to key operations in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while contributing to project success.
Key Responsibilities
1. Conduct field-based geological activities, including core and cuttings sampling, gas desorption analysis, and gas composition sampling
2. Complete detailed core and cuttings logging, data entry, and drill hole data compilation
3. Prepare final geological logs and gas desorption reports
4. Perform laboratory gas desorption testing, including equipment calibration and routine maintenance
5. Support team mobilisation and demobilisation to and from site
6. Participate in rig-up and rig-down of field equipment
7. Maintain confidentiality across all projects
Requirements
* Willingness to work flexible hours, including extended shifts (12 hours), weekends, public holidays, and travel
* Ability to work in varying field conditions and climates
* Tertiary qualifications in Geology or Science or similar discipline
* Strong attention to detail and a proactive work ethic
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team
* Experience collecting and analysing desorbing gas from coal core
* High-level analytical skills with strong attention to detail
* Experience working on a drill rig is advantageous
* Pre-employment medical required
