About The Role
This is a brand-new role within Group Risk, supporting the Financial Crime Compliance team to strengthen how BOQ Group manages financial crime risk across the organisation. As a Specialist in Assurance, you will play a hands‐on role in delivering the Financial Crime Assurance Program, providing independent insight, review and challenge to ensure obligations across AML/CTF, sanctions and broader regulatory expectations are met.
Working across the business, you will conduct assurance activities including control testing, thematic reviews and targeted deep dives, helping to identify risks, gaps and opportunities for uplift. You will bring together insights from your reviews to inform meaningful reporting to stakeholders, while also supporting the validation and closure of financial crime issues to ensure effective and sustainable outcomes. This role offers strong exposure across the Group and the opportunity to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, contributing to a proactive and continuously improving compliance environment.
This is a unique opportunity to step into a newly created role and help shape how financial crime risk is managed at BOQ Group, contributing to the design and uplift of critical frameworks that support the bank's future direction.
About You
You bring experience in quality assurance, financial crime, audit or risk within a banking or financial services environment, with a strong preference for those who have operated across both quality assurance and financial crime compliance. You have a solid understanding of financial crime obligations, including AML/CTF and sanctions, and are confident applying assurance or control testing methodologies in practice. You are naturally analytical, with the ability to assess complex information, identify themes and translate insights into clear, practical recommendations. Equally important is your ability to communicate effectively and build trusted relationships with stakeholders, enabling you to provide constructive challenge and influence positive outcomes. You take a proactive, solutions-focused approach to your work and are motivated by the opportunity to contribute to strong risk management and compliance practices within a dynamic banking environment.
