Wurli-Wurlinjang Health Service is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation delivering primary and clinical health care services to the Aboriginal people in Katherine and surrounding communities. Wurli Health Services are supported by service teams such as finance, human resources, corporate support, and other administrative roles which all perform a pivotal role in supporting service delivery and ensuring Wurli is compliant with its legislative and reporting requirements.
The Trainee Aboriginal Islander Health Practitioner (TAHP) role is a training role designed to support individuals undertake a Certificate IV in Aboriginal and /or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (practice) with a combined on the job and off the job approach to the training relevant to complete the qualification over two (2) years. Once you have successfully completed your first twelve (12) months of training you will be considered for another twelve (12) month contract as a TAHP.
The aim of the trainee position is to provide for the development of Aboriginal Health Practitioners within the Wurli workforce who will upon completion of their training be in a position to seek registration with AHPRA and will become responsible for delivering safe, high-quality clinical services, patient care, health promotion and education as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Essential:
* Sound literacy and numeracy skills
Desired:
* Successfully completed up to Year 10
* An understanding or lived experience of Indigenous culture and its effects on health and wellbeing.
* Confirmation of Aboriginality Descent Form
* National Police Records Check and Working with Children's Clearance
* Current Northern Territory Driver's License
