About the Business Unit:
Western Plains operates with three primary service teams: Workforce and Prison Services, Communities, and Safety and Operational Service which collaboratively deliver comprehensive services for people in our care, safety management, and corporate services. Through its innovative design and service model, Western Plains aims to create a thriving environment conducive to safety and positive behavioural change.
About the Role:
This role is part of the Workforce and Prison Services (WPS) team, a team dedicated to delivering essential corporate and ancillary services support to prison operational teams and prisoners. Leveraging the technical ability and professional expertise of trained subject matter experts, the team supports the smooth functioning of prison operations while prioritising prisoner rehabilitation and safety.
The Workforce Engagement Officer is responsible for providing knowledge, innovative thinking, and creative solutions that support Western Plains Correctional Centre's key workforce and prison services function. The position provides expertise relating to identifying workforce capacity and capability with the aim of supporting the prison to meet its objectives now and into the future.
Some of your duties will include:
- Supporting the creation, communication and ongoing maintenance of the employee engagement strategy to continually drive positive employee experiences
- Building and fostering relationships across business units to ensure employees are engaged and informed no matter where they work in the prison
- Providing support and advice to managers in relation to organisational culture, values and other workforce engagement related activities.

About You:
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Relevant experience in a strategic human resources/staff engagement role would be desirable
- Demonstrated experience in providing corporate support services in government or large private sector organisations would be desirable.
- Experience working with the full range of Microsoft Windows and MS Office application suite software would be highly desirable
Qualifications/Requirements:
- A qualification in human resource management would be desirable.
