Technical Sales Engineer - Audio Visual
Technical Alliance is looking for a practical and fast-moving Technical Sales Engineer to join our Perth team.
We design and deliver audio visual, architectural lighting and venue technology systems for hospitality, commercial and creative spaces. This role is for someone who can work comfortably with clients, support the sales team and help turn project conversations into clear quotes, practical system designs and well-supported handovers.
The Opportunity
This is not a desk-only estimating role. You will be part of the conversation with clients, suppliers, sales and installers. You will help understand the brief, shape the solution, prepare accurate estimates, create documentation and support the team through the early stages of delivery.
What you will be doing
* Work with clients to understand their goals, requirements and budget
* Support the sales team with quoting, estimating and technical recommendations
* Prepare practical AV system designs, equipment lists, scope notes and proposal support
* Come up with creative solutions that suit the venue, the client and the budget
* Liaise with suppliers for product options, pricing, availability and technical advice
* Support installers with documentation, project context and technical information
* Create scope notes, markups, handover details and supporting project documents
* Assist with project coordination when required
* Keep project notes, supplier information and quote details organised
What you will bring
* Experience in AV, lighting, automation, electrical, data or technical sales
* Strong understanding of system design, quoting and scope development
* Confidence speaking with clients about practical solutions in plain English
* Rapid and accurate computer skills across email, quoting tools, spreadsheets and cloud platforms
* Strong follow-up habits and attention to detail
* A helpful attitude towards sales, installers, suppliers and the wider team
* Current driver's licence and professional presentation
Experience that will stand out
* AV estimating, pre-sales engineering or technical sales experience
* Experience in hospitality, venues, theatre, commercial fit‐outs or creative spaces
* Ability to read plans, drawings, briefs and site notes
* Understanding of signal flow, DSP, speakers, amplifiers, control, displays, lighting control and rack builds
* Supplier relationships or strong product knowledge across AV and lighting
