VoiceworksPLUS is a professionally directed performing arts program for people with intellectual disabilities. We rehearse on Wednesdays from 4:30 – 6:30pm at the Shenton Park Community Centre in Onslow Rd Shenton Park.
The program's objectives are to develop participants' musical talents and performance skills and encourage their greater integration with the wider community.
Key responsibilities
The Artistic Director has overall responsibility for the delivery of the VoiceworksPLUS program including developing a creative vision, devising and implementing programs, and leading and working collaboratively with a creative team who have various musical and theatre backgrounds.
What we're looking for
We are seeking an experienced and energetic Artistic Director who enjoys community involvement and who has appropriate professional skills and experience.
To succeed you will need good leadership, organisational and communication skills, and the ability to adjust to the varying needs and abilities of participants.
Our VoiceworksPLUS participants respond well to high energy people who lead with passion, empathy and a sense of fun.
Specific requirements
* Extensive experience in the performing arts and facilitating with large groups
* Demonstrated ability to lead a team to deliver theatrical productions or educational programs
* Strong planning and organisational skills
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey ideas and feedback.
* Ability to build rapport with participants and guide behaviour
* Flexibility and a sense of humour.
* Experience in the disability sector, preferably working with people with intellectual disabilities is desirable.
* A current NDIS Check will be required before appointment is made.

Vocal Ensemble Voiceworks is a community based performing arts organisation based in Shenton Park, WA.
VoiceworksPLUS is our performing arts ensemble which fosters the talents of people with intellectual disabilities. The program teaches acting, singing and movement techniques, building self-confidence and developing communication and social skills in our participants.
VoiceworksPLUS is known for its high energy shows in which participants delight the audience with their enthusiasm and joy for performing.
