As a Data Engineer at Bupa, you will bring specialized skills to enable Bupa ANZ to execute its Data Strategy. You will contribute to building our future data platforms on Microsoft Azure and help the business work strategically with data to maximize performance. Data Engineers support the evolution of Bupa’s data estate through squad, project, and business partnerships.
At Bupa ANZ, Data Engineers work across various data services, including Operational Data and Analytics, Data Warehouse and BI, Advanced Analytics, and Self-service, supporting different business units like Health Insurance, Health Services, and corporate functions.
What will I be doing?
1. Identify solution options, analyze their pros and cons, and collaborate with stakeholders to choose the best approach.
2. Engineer data pipelines from data acquisition and ingestion to consumption via reports, analytics, dashboards, applications, models, and APIs.
3. Utilize SQL to write and optimize complex queries over large datasets.
4. Develop CI/CD processes and manage releases following source control and DevOps best practices.
5. Implement secure development practices, including data quality and integrity checks.
6. Evaluate new technologies and approaches, and recommend adoption pathways.
Requirements for the role:
1. Degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field.
2. 2 to 5 years of experience as a software or data engineer.
3. Azure certifications or equivalent.
4. Proficiency in SQL/TSQL and Spark.
5. Experience with CI/CD processes.
6. Skills in Microsoft Azure data services, including Azure DataBricks, Azure Data Factory, and others as useful or mandatory.
