Ventia operates Australia's largest private firefighting service, deliveringer aviation, structural, and bushfire response capabilities across the country. With more than 20 years' experience supporting the Australian Defence Force (ADF), we now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Doctrine & Governance Lead to join our team to be located at Fleet Base West, WA. It is desirable that the applicant holds/held Firefighting qualifications to a Station Officer level or is/was previously a senior Emergency Response Manager in an Australian organisation.
About The Role
This role plays a pivotal part in ensuring the delivery of high‐quality, compliant, and standardised Ship Board Firefighting, aviation fire rescue, and fire and rescue services across our Defence contract. You will help drive strategic operational outcomes by embedding a culture of continuous improvement, regulatory compliance, and operational consistency across the Fire Services DBS contract. Inclusive of but not limited to, driving, leading and governance mandates applicable to Firefighting services.
Key Accountabilities
* Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of quality assurance frameworks aligned with Defence and Ventia standards.
* Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, Defence contract requirements, and industry best practices in aviation fire rescue, fire, and rescueoperations.
* Conduct audits, inspections, and reviews of operational practices for fire stations toidentifygaps and drive corrective actions.
* Provide strategic insights and reporting to the Training & Capability Development Manager on compliance trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
* Support incident investigations and post-incident reviews to ensure lessons learned are captured and integrated into operational standards.
* Champion a culture of safety, integrity, and continuous improvement across all fire service teams.
To be successful in this position you must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance at Negative Vetting 1 (secret). As a result of this requirement, you must be an Australian Citizen.
What You'll Bring
* Tertiary qualifications in compliance, quality management,inemergency services, or relatedfield.
* Extensive experience in fire services, preferably within Defence or aviation rescue environments(highly regarded).
* Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, ISO standards, Defenceand contractdeliverycompliance requirements.
* Proven ability to lead audits, develop standards, and influence operationalbehaviors.
* Excellent communication,project management,analytical, and stakeholder engagement skills.
