Delta Water NT Pty Ltd T/A Think Water Darwin, a locally owned specialist business operating in Coolalinga, specialising in pump, water, and irrigation solutions for residential, commercial, and turf projects. Our team delivers high-quality design, installation, and maintenance services, ensuring efficient water management across a wide range of applications. Our business is also part of the Think Water franchise network, operating throughout Australasia. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Irrigation Technician to join our project team Full Time. This onsite role will primarily involve turf project installations, including the setup, testing, and maintenance of advanced irrigation systems. The role requires technical ability, practical problem-solving, and a commitment to delivering projects on time and to specification.
The role:
Reporting to the Irrigation Designer & Projects Manager, your responsibilities will include but not limited to, Installing, testing, and maintaining irrigation equipment including pumps, valves, pipes, sprinklers, controllers, and drip systems. Laying and joining pipes, digging trenches, and setting up water flow systems. Interpreting irrigation drawings, technical diagrams, and project specifications. Connecting irrigation systems to electrical and electronic controls. Monitoring and adjusting water flow and distribution for turf installations. Identifying, diagnosing, and repairing faults in irrigation systems. Performing routine inspections and preventative maintenance on irrigation equipment. Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety standards on all worksites.
Interpret irrigation plans, designs, and specifications. Install, test, and commission irrigation systems, including pumps, valves, controllers, pipelines, sprinklers, and drip systems. Conduct trenching, pipe laying, wiring, and connection of irrigation components. Maintain and repair existing irrigation systems to ensure operational efficiency. Monitor system performance, diagnose faults, and carry out corrective action. Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with safety and quality standards. Work collaboratively with project teams to deliver turf irrigation installations on time and to specification.
The successful candidate:
The successful candidate will have Minimum 3 years' demonstrated experience as an Irrigation Technician. Strong knowledge of irrigation system installation, troubleshooting, and repair. Experience with turf irrigation projects highly regarded. Ability to read and interpret plans, diagrams, and technical specifications. Competency in using hand tools, power tools, and machinery related to irrigation installation. Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Physically fit and capable of working outdoors in varying conditions. Current driver's licence. Certificate III in Irrigation, Horticulture, or a closely related qualification.
