Responsibilities
* Undertake and successfully progress through the approved Marine Pilot training programme.
* Deliver a safe and efficient pilotage service within the Ports.
* Practice, lead and participate in a highly reliable port resource management team.
* Develop and maintain a high level of ship handling skills.
* Participate in and contribute to marine‐related port development projects and assignments.
* Participate in pilotage related forums and committees to proactively manage port risks and adopt industry best practices.
The role reports to the Harbour Master, Sydney Harbour & Port Botany.
Qualifications
* Master Unlimited Certificate of Competency recognised by AMSA or another qualification accepted under the NSW Marine Pilotage Code.
* Ability to obtain and hold a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC).
* Current Australian Driver's Licence.
* Previous pilotage experience in a similar port operational environment.
* Previous ship handling experience relating to vessel types and sizes trading at the Ports.
* Experience working with ships' bridge teams.
* A thorough understanding and ability to apply risk management techniques.
* Ability to analyse problems, formulate suitable solutions and make rational decisions.
* Proficiency in the use of technology relating to Marine Pilotage.
This role is open to Australian Citizens or Australian Permanent Residents only.
