Job Title: Data Engineer Location: Melbourne (Hybrid – Minimum 3 days in-office per week) Duration: 12 month About the Role: We’re seeking a skilled Data Engineer to support a major data transformation initiative involving report automation, cloud migration, and production support for critical business systems. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with strong expertise in MS SQL Server, Power BI, SSRS, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), coupled with proven incident management experience in a production environment. This long-term engagement will involve working closely with cross-functional teams to: Migrate and map existing data from legacy systems to GCP Automate key reports and dashboards for Business-As-Usual (BAU) reporting Eliminate reliance on local data warehouses Support and manage production incidents, including participation in after-hours on-call support Key Responsibilities: Develop and maintain reports and dashboards using Power BI and SSRS Translate existing reports and business requirements into scalable, cloud-based reporting solutions Perform data mapping and migration from legacy databases to GCP Design, write, and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects Monitor and manage production incidents with a clear understanding of SLAs and escalation protocols Use ticket management tools such as ServiceNow or Remedy to manage incidents and requests Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data models and identify patterns across datasets Key Skills & Experience: 3–5 years of experience in data engineering or a similar role Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server, including writing complex queries and stored procedures Strong experience in developing dashboards and reports with Power BI and SSRS Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), especially in data warehouse environments Understanding of data modeling, database structures, and performance tuning Experience in incident management and on-call support in production environments Familiarity with ITSM tools like ServiceNow or Remedy Strong problem-solving and communication skills Team-oriented with a proactive approach to learning and adapting in new environments Note: This role requires flexibility to provide on-call support outside regular business hours on a rotational basis.
