About The Team
The School of Veterinary Medicine at Murdoch University provides Western Australia's only Veterinary Science course and is responsible for the training and development of graduates within our internationally recognised degree programme, fully accredited by AVMA, RCVS and AVBC. The Animal Hospital at Murdoch University (TAHMU) offers a comprehensive clinical service, with specialist‐led disciplines including small animal internal medicine, oncology, cardiology, small animal surgery, anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging, emergency and critical care, clinical pathology and anatomic pathology. Activities are supported by state‐of‐the‐art equipment, including videoendoscopy, ultrasonography, digital radiography, CT, MRI, fluoroscopy, haemodialysis capabilities and an on‐site laboratory. https://youtu.be/FLXJvzarEIM. Small Animal Medicine is a key discipline within this school that contributes to the teaching of all veterinary students, conducts postgraduate research and specialist clinical training programmes, offers continuing professional development to practitioners within Western Australia and beyond, contributes to research of international standard, and provides a clinical referral service for the Animal Hospital, delivering high quality veterinary care to dogs and cats within the community.
Your New Role
As a Senior Lecturer, you will make substantial contributions to the small animal medicine service. You will contribute to the teaching programme in small animal medicine, create and maintain material aligned with other course content and deliver it within the agreed teaching strategy. Unit coordination is expected. In addition, you will provide leadership of the clinical service through consulting, supervision and training of both undergraduate and graduate students. You will aid development of clinical research within the School by securing competitive grants, delivering appropriate research outputs, supporting resident research requirements and engaging with industry and other external stakeholders to develop partnerships and progress the interests of the College and the University. There is flexibility to develop new and innovative clinical, teaching and research directions, and to place more emphasis on either teaching or research depending on your interests and career goals. What You'll Bring to the Role
* A clinical specialist qualification (DECVIM‐CA, DACVIM or fellowship) in small animal medicine.
* Evidence of excellence in clinical work and a high level of competence across a broad range of small animal medicine cases.
* Evidence of ability to direct a clinical team within a small animal medicine referral service.
* Substantial experience teaching at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level.
* Experience supervising honours, Masters by Coursework, HDR and postgraduate students or residents in training.
* A track record of success in undertaking clinical research, securing competitive grants and producing high‐quality research outputs.
