Job Title: Senior Engineering Manager
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team of experienced engineers and drive modernisation across enterprise-scale database platforms.
You will be responsible for leading and mentoring a team of senior engineers, translating DRE insights into actionable strategies for product teams, and fostering a high-performing culture.
In addition, you will ensure performant, stable data stores and manage a vital support roster, setting clear SLAs and managing incident communications.
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience guiding software delivery and engineering teams through Lean and/or Agile methodologies.
They will also possess strong technical skills, including hands-on experience with SQL Server, Postgres, and DynamoDB, as well as a deep understanding of the development lifecycle, CI/CD concepts, and engineering lifecycle best practices.
A strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment are essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead a team of engineers to identify, scope, and complete high-quality work that delivers measurable improvements to production systems in a timely manner.
* Analyse system health and make regular system health reviews.
* SUPPORT engineers during incidents and facilitate post-incident reviews.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Substantial experience guiding software delivery and engineering teams through Lean and/or Agile methodologies.
* Strong technical skills, including hands-on experience with SQL Server, Postgres, and DynamoDB.
