About the role
The Events and Department Communication Team plays a vital role in shaping how Treasury communicates internally and externally.
From crafting compelling communication plans to delivering high-impact events, the team brings creativity and evidence-based strategy to everything they do. Whether it's a ministerial briefing or a department-wide forum, they ensure every event aligns with Treasury's broader policy and program goals.
The EL1 Events Lead will lead the planning and delivery of ministerial and departmental events. You'll be responsible for:
* Efficiently and effectively designing and delivering events that directly support Treasury's objectives.
* Offering expert advice and creative solutions while building strong relationships across the board, from Ministers and their offices to the Executive and Policy Divisions within Treasury.
* Leading major ministerial and department events like, Budget lock-ups, stakeholder forums, and virtual conferences.
* Managing projects end-to-end and understanding how it all fits together, especially those tied to the Federal Budget process.
* Collaborating with your team, ensuring events are well-planned, well-executed, and thoroughly evaluated.
* Juggling priorities with confidence, you'll use your skills and experience to stay flexible when things shift, and tackle issues head-on.
* Taking the lead in a small team, mentoring junior staff and helping colleagues grow in their roles.
This role includes some weekend and after-hours work during peak periods, and for the delivery of events.
This position is for a 12-month non-ongoing role, with a merit pool to be established to fill future non-ongoing or ongoing vacancies.

Desirable Qualifications / Experience
Candidates with tertiary qualifications and/or at least five years of relevant work experience in communications, events or a related field.
