The Team
The role is part of the Launceston General Hospital, Tasmania's second largest hospital. Our level 5 unit has approximately 1,600 births per year and includes a neonatal unit providing care from 32 weeks gestation. The unit enjoys a collaborative relationship between midwifery and obstetric staff with several models of midwifery care and care of high‐risk pregnancies. Comprehensive gynaecological services are provided, including up to level 6 laparoscopy, hysteroscopic procedures, urogynecological procedures at a generalist level, and traditional open and vaginal surgery.
The Role
* Provide high quality day‐to‐day medical services in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department within Women's and Children's Services at the Launceston General Hospital.
* Positions suitable for advanced trainees, unaccredited registrars or SIMGs. Candidates wishing to enter RANZCOG ITP must apply via RANZCOG and to the Royal Hobart Accredited trainee advertisement.
Successful Applicants Will Be Required To
* Provide day‐to‐day clinical management of Obstetrics and Gynaecology patients at LGH.
* Under the direction of a specialist consultant, participate in private operative procedures for gynaecology patients.
* Under the direction of a specialist consultant, participate in inpatient and postoperative care of private gynaecology patients at Calvary Healthcare (St Vincent's).
* Supervise and teach junior medical staff and medical students attached to the department.
* Participate in relevant postgraduate educational activities.

Details of Appointment
* Fixed‐term, full‐time, shift worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from 1 February 2027 until 31 January 2028.
* 10 hours of paid, protected training time per fortnight, pro‐rata.
* Hours to be negotiated with successful applicant.
* For a period of twelve months from publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent full‐time, part‐time and casual vacancies.
Salary
Medical Practitioner Level 5‐11: $134,930 – $189,005 per annum, pro‐rata, plus 12% superannuation and access to salary packaging.
* Possible allowances: salary packaging options include living expenses up to $9,010 and meals & entertainment up to $2,650 per year.
