Glenala State High School is a growing and dynamic secondary school with high expectations for student success, staff capability and continuous improvement. Located in Brisbane's south‐west, the school caters for a diverse and multicultural community and offers a range of innovative academic pathways to support student achievement. About The Role

As the Head of Department – English, you will work collaboratively with staff to build teacher capability, strengthen curriculum delivery, and promote consistent, evidence‐informed practices that support student engagement and achievement within a vibrant and inclusive school community.

Your responsibilities
* Lead the school department and curriculum focus in developing and providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
* Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
* Set high standards for student and staff performance.
* Engage in lifelong learning and professional development.
* Build partnerships with students, parents, agencies, and community groups.
* Be future‐oriented and strategic.
* Understand legislation and policies impacting on the school department, students and staff.
* Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the school department to achieve goals.
