ACM Healthcare is working on behalf of a Federal Government Department to source a Community and Peer Worker in Elizabeth, SA providing support services to veterans. This is initially a 12‐month contract at an equivalent of an APS5 level.
Responsibilities
* In line with policy and procedures, provide personalized peer support services to current and former ADF members and their families
* Where appropriate, share knowledge gained through one's relevant lived experience and recovery to promote awareness, understanding and service improvement
* The Community and Peer Worker will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to provide direct support to clients. The position will also work with key internal and external stakeholders to influence a recovery approach to service delivery for veterans and serving ADF members and their families, and in doing so foster wellbeing
* Role model behaviours which promote mental health recovery and wellness for the purpose of client, community, and stakeholder education and engagement
* Co‐facilitate relevant group programs and case review meetings
* Represent the peer workforce to strengthen the organisation's public profile, in order to further enhance responsiveness and reach
* Work with key internal and external stakeholders to influence a recovery approach to service delivery for veteran, current ADF and their families
* Undertake and maintain accurate record documentation, reporting and other administration requirements
* Maintain lived experience‐led evidence‐based processes, participate in regular supervision, training, case conferencing and case review meetings
Requirements
* Lived experience, including personal lived experience of military service or military family life, and of a mental health journey, which may include as a relative/carer of an ex‐ADF member who has experienced a mental health journey
* Working with Children (WWC) and/or Vulnerable People Checks/Clearance must be obtained prior to commencing the position
* Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or equivalent, or a willingness to obtain certification and other relevant training
* Skills and experience in delivery of lived experience peer support, or experience in the mental health sector, mentoring, coaching or supporting individuals
