Lead Planner - Governance, Assurance & Capability
As a Lead Planner - Governance, Assurance & Capability you will report to the E&U Planning Manager working across Energy, Water, Power, Transmission and Substation projects.
You will be supporting the Energy & Utilities business to transition the E&U Lines of Business to best practice methodology and execution for Planning and Scheduling to assist continual uplift in project performance.
This full-time permanent role will be based out of our Sydney, or Newcastle, Hexham office, with flexible/hybrid working.
There will also be local and interstate travel required for site visits.
What you'll do
Support the E&U Planning Team in complying to Downer Standards and best practices.
Certify deliverables of E&U Planning Team prior submission to clients and customers.
Manage and maintain governance, procedures and processes related to E&U Planning Team.
Work across the Bid and Delivery stages of multiple projects.
Ensure compliance with Downer's Standards and requirements as set by Utilities Performance Commercial & Risk Team, in terms of Schedule Quality and Change Management.
Prepare resource and cost loaded detailed project delivery schedules, for allocated projects/work packages, using past construction knowledge and experience that accurately reflect the conditions of the contract, design and specifications.
Maintain and update the project schedule, where applicable, incorporating subcontract schedules, to ensure appropriate execution of work package plans are completed as required.
Perform delay analysis as needed by the Contract and support with suitable narrative.
Manage/ undertake, review and analysis of sub-contractor schedules to confirm alignment with good scheduling practice and Downer standards and requirements.
Assist in the development of project practices and procedures.
Undertake reporting requirements of internal and external stakeholders.

What we're looking for
Tertiary qualification - Degree, or equivalent, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management or Project Management preferred
Formal qualifications in Training & Assessing.
12+ years site construction experience on water, power transmission, substation, networks or plant shutdown projects - required
Previous commercial experience in planning and scheduling for small and large projects using Primavera P6 (essential) or Microsoft Project (used predominately for subcontract program management.
Strong communication skills and people management skills
Certifications/Competence on Primavera P6 Scheduling tool - required
Risk Management - desirable
Excellent knowledge and understanding of CPM scheduling concepts and delay analysis techniques (essential)
Advanced Excel Skills (essential)
Effective Communicator - Must have high levels of verbal and written communications skills.

Must be able to evidence an "attention to detail" and "issue ownership" in previous scheduling positions (essential)
Understanding of Earned Value Management System and prior experience in controlling time and cost and KPI's (essential)
