The MHHS is a contemporary organisation providing extensive health services in a range of regional, community and rural settings, to a population of around 182,000 people. Our region covers Sarina in the south, Clermont in the west, and Bowen and the Whitsunday Islands in the northeast, which is an area of approximately 90,000km2. The MHHS has six hospitals, two multi‑purpose health services and four community health centres that employ more than 3,700 staff. The Mackay Base Hospital is the referral hospital for our region and is one of the most modern healthcare facilities in Queensland. It is a state‑of‑the‑art facility equipped with leading‑edge technology to assist us in providing the highest level of care to our patients and their families.

About The Unit
The MHHS Virtual Health Unit's purpose is to develop, lead, manage and evaluate major health system improvement and facilitate MHHS staff and stakeholders to design and implement innovative virtual care and technology‑enabled models of health care. Virtual Health enables live and asynchronous clinical interactions, clinical practice and patient management supported by a wide range of communication, collaboration and cognitive computing technologies along with digital devices and data.
Your Opportunity
This position is accountable for driving promotion and adoption of Virtual Care through intra and cross HHS clinician‑led engagement and change management initiatives, as well as informing the development and implementation of clinical protocols and new Virtual‑enabled models of care. The Virtual Care Medical Lead will foster relationships with new and existing users of virtual care, both in the public and private sectors, and inform the design and implementation of systems and processes to support scalable and sustainable virtual care services across all patient care settings (inpatient, outpatient, emergency, community) and modalities (video call, request for advice, remote patient monitoring, and phone call). The Virtual Care Medical Lead will foster relationships with new and existing users of virtual care, both in the public and private sectors, and inform the design and implementation of systems and processes to support scalable and sustainable virtual care services across all patient care settings (inpatient, outpatient, emergency, community) and modalities (video call, request for advice, remote patient monitoring, and phone call).
