The Application Engineer plays a critical role in the sales process by reviewing client requirements and design competitive, compliant solutions, including working as part of an ad hoc proposal response team led by a Proposal Manager. You will also apply technical subject matter expertise to proposal response content, sales tools, technical marketing collateral, and develop training curriculum. You will represent Campbell Scientific at events, such as trade shows and conferences and influence market strategy by advocating for the needs of our clients and sales team within the company.

You will be part of a team dedicated to supporting environmental service providers and the environmental research community by providing solutions to reliably monitor the environment, helping protect and improve the lives of citizens around the world.
Essential Functions
* Create and maintain a strong culture in accordance with the Campbell Scientific's core ARCTIC values -- Accountability, Respect, Client-Centric, Teamwork, Innovation, Continuous Improvement
* Provide technical review and system design for proposals as assigned by the Market Development Manager and under the direction of the Proposal Manager.
* Develop sales tools, technical marketing collateral, and proposal response content as assigned by the Market Development Manager and in coordination with the Marketing Manager and Proposal Manager.
* Work with the global sales team to design fit-for-purpose solutions and proposals for clients.
* Accompany sales on key client visits serving as an application and technical expert for sales and trusted advisor for clients.
* Provide training to the global sales team to build technical market expertise and help sell new products.
* Develop training curriculum and technical resources for clients and conduct in-house training for the service and support teams.
* Advise and consult with Market Development Managers and Product Managers as needed to support development decisions.
* Staff conferences and exhibits, including representing Campbell Scientific in exhibit booths and giving presentations. Participate in industry associations, including sitting on technical committees.
* Be prepared to step outside defined job boundaries to help your team succeed and ensure excellent client satisfaction before and after the sale.
* Influence annual revenue and year-on-year revenue growth in target markets.
* Establish and achieve goals toward the number of contributed proposals.
* Measure the capture rate ($ captured / $ pursued).
* Travel up to 25% of the year.
Required Technical and Functional Skills
* Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of productivity software.
* Understanding of scientific principles underlying measurements, instrument operation, and decision support software in target market.
* Experience using Customer Resource Management (CRM) tools, such as Salesforce.
* Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to independently manage a challenging workload when faced with unexpected changes in priorities and deadlines.
* Ability to collaborate closely with local and remote team members.
* Practitioner expertise in the HydroMet, Aviation Weather, Surface Transportation, and/or Environmental Research markets
* Familiarity with common environmental industry monitoring sensors, systems, and software platforms.
* Fundamental understanding of operation of common sensing technologies in environmental industry.
* Committed to the highest standards of excellence and integrity.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in Private Weather Industry.
* Master's degree in Atmospheric Science, Hydrology, Marketing, or Engineering field
* Experience using Campbell Scientific products.
* Experience operating and maintaining measurement equipment in target market.
* Experience using decision support software in target market.
Required Education and Relevant Experience
* Education: BS degree in Science, Marketing, or Engineering field.
* Experience: 5 years of experience in Technical Proposal Response, Application Management, Customer Technical Support, Sales, Marketing, or in a user role in the target market.
* Skills: Demonstrated competency in (1) understanding client technical challenges, (2) application of relevant environmental monitoring hardware, and (3) decision support software, including designing effective solutions relevant to the target market.
