The Department of Medicine at the Mackay Base Hospital is looking for a Staff Specialist, Respiratory and Sleep Medicine to join their team on a permanent, full‐time basis (80 hours per fortnight).

The successful candidate will provide contemporary specialist respiratory and sleep services across inpatient, outpatient and consultative settings within the Mackay HHS. The role offers exposure to a broad and professionally rewarding clinical case mix, with responsibility for delivering safe, evidence‐based and patient‐centred care aligned with the values of the MHHS. You will work with a challenging and professionally satisfying case mix.
Role‐specific Responsibilities
* Provide specialist respiratory assessment, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management for inpatients, outpatients and referred patients across the health service.
* Undertake respiratory procedural services, including bronchoscopy and other scope of practice interventions.
* Deliver timely consultative services to medical, surgical and emergency teams to support whole‐hospital patient flow and outcomes.
* Contribute to the development and expansion of respiratory services, including models of care and outreach services.

The Staff Specialist will join a multidisciplinary team of 18 FTE physicians representing a broad range of subspecialties, including Acute Medicine, Endocrinology, Respiratory Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Medical Oncology, Neurology, Nephrology, Rheumatology, Palliative Care Medicine, and Rehabilitation Medicine.
