Role of the Registrar – Emergency Department
Based in the scenic waterfront area of Hobart, as a Registrar you will provide emergency care to patients attending the Emergency Department (ED) at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH).
Registrar rostering provides flexibility to maintain a work‐life balance. Shift and leave requests are incorporated into the roster and pairing of rosters for joint applicants can occur. It is required that Registrars work a mix of day, evening, night and weekend shifts. Shifts are 9.5 hours for daytime and evening, and 10 hours for night. Full‐time work is 8 clinical shifts per fortnight plus 10 hours of paid protected training time per fortnight. An education program is delivered as a full day every fortnight and is specifically rostered to avoid clinical demands interfering with attendance. Dedicated preparation programs for ACEM primary and fellowship examinations, as well as support for the AST EM StAMPS exam, are available.
The department offers a range of additional qualifications in Emergency Medicine, including:
* Foundational Emergency Medicine Training Program
* Intermediate Emergency Medicine Training Program
* Advanced Emergency Medicine Training Program
* Extended Skills Training for GP Trainees
* Advanced Specialised Training for ACCRM Trainees
ACEM Trainees will also have access to special skills terms in Medical Education, Research & Geriatric Emergency Medicine. Time in the department enables access to rotations in ICU, Anaesthetics, Paediatrics, NPICU, Trauma, Hospital at Home, Hyperbaric Medicine and others.
