Lead the Delivery and Growth of a High-Performance Electrical Contracting Business
Bayliss Engineering Group is a growing electrical and mechanical contractor delivering complex projects across Western Australia. Our work spans commercial, industrial, education, health, defence, logistics, and regional sectors, with capabilities covering design, engineering, construction, commissioning, and ongoing service.
We are seeking an exceptional Operations Manager to join our leadership team and play a pivotal role in driving project performance, operational excellence, and business growth.
This role is suited to a high-performing leader from a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor who is looking for greater autonomy, influence, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact within an ambitious and entrepreneurial business striving for growth and excellence.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the operational delivery and commercial performance of our projects and service divisions.
You will lead project teams, strengthen systems and processes, and ensure projects are delivered safely, profitably, and to the highest quality standards.
This is a hands‐on leadership position that combines operations, commercial management, team leadership, and strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and mentor Project Managers, Supervisors, Engineers, and Coordinators
* Oversee project delivery from pre‐tender planning through to commissioning and final handover
* Manage project controls, WIP, forecasting, cost‐to‐complete, and financial performance
* Review budgets, procurement strategies, subcontractor engagement, and risk management
* Drive accountability across safety, quality, programming, and commercial outcomes
* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors
* Identify opportunities for additional works, repeat business, and strategic growth
* Improve internal systems, workflows, and operational efficiencies
* Support tender reviews, methodology development, and bid strategy
About You
You are a commercially astute electrical leader with a proven track record delivering complex projects and services across sectors such as:
* Commercial Construction
* Defence
* Education
* Health
* Regional
You will bring:
* 10+ years' experience in electrical contracting, construction, or engineering
* Strong electrical trade or engineering background
* Demonstrated success managing projects from pre‐tender through to handover
* Advanced capability in project controls, WIP, forecasting, and financial reporting
* Excellent leadership and team development skills
* Strong client and stakeholder management experience
* Strategic mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and growth
* High standards of professionalism, accountability, and integrity

Remuneration
Attractive six‐figure salary package, including vehicle and incentives, commensurate with experience and capability.
