About the Role
In this important role, working as a Gardener/Maintenance Officer, reporting to the Retirement Living Manager, you will provide maintenance and gardening support to this Retirement Village. A friendly sociable personality coupled with empathy and compassion for the elderly will make you a perfect fit for this role.
Responsibilities
* Conducting regular inspections to ensure tidy and well-maintained site to support all activities.
* General maintenance & repairs to buildings and infrastructure.
* Maintenance of up-to-date inventory of all equipment including adhering to preventative maintenance program of all equipment.
* Horticultural and ground development, maintenance and monitoring to maximise seasonal conditions.
* Trees and shrubs pruning.
* Mowing of lawns, edging, fertilising and weeding.
* Clearing and removal of garden refuse.
* Paths, drains and edge maintenance and repair when needed.
* Undertaking of any repair work and maintenance duties within the village in consultation with the Retirement Village Manager.
* Maintaining records of all works conducted.
Qualifications
* Horticultural knowledge and experience (desirable).
* Maintenance and/or Trade qualification (desirable).
* Previous experience and knowledge in general and commercial maintenance.
* Experience in safe operation of ride on mowers, gardening equipment and power tools with adherence to WH&S policies at all times.
* Demonstrated problem solving and a "can do" attitude.
* Exceptional people and interpersonal skills.
* Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
* Good time management skills.
* Ability to work as part of a team but also be capable of working autonomously.
