Hydra Search have partnered with a growing business in innovative automation solutions for the mining industry, who are seeking a highly skilled Control Systems Engineer with over 5 years of experience to join their team. As a Control Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, implementing, and optimizing control systems for automated mining operations, ensuring efficient, safe, and reliable performance. Key Responsibilities
Design & Development: Lead the design, configuration, and programming of control systems for mining machinery, equipment, and automated systems, including PLCs, SCADA systems, such as Rockwell/Allen Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, Citect. System Integration: Integrate new and existing control systems with various mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems to ensure seamless operation across mining operations. Troubleshooting & Optimization: Provide ongoing support to operations by diagnosing and resolving system issues, optimizing performance, and implementing improvements to increase system efficiency and reliability. Testing & Commissioning: Oversee the testing, commissioning, and startup of control systems in the field, ensuring all components are functioning as expected and meeting safety standards. Client Interaction: Work closely with clients to understand their specific needs and provide tailored control systems solutions that meet or exceed their expectations. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience in control systems engineering, with a focus on the mining industry or industrial automation. Proficiency in programming and configuring PLCs (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Rockwell, etc.), SCADA, and HMI systems. Strong understanding of control algorithms, system integration, and communication protocols (Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profibus, etc.). Experience with industrial safety standards and practices such as IEC 61508 and functional safety systems. Hands-on experience with automation hardware, software, and field devices used in mining operations. Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills. Strong project management and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
