Factory operations manager

Perth
The Jerky Co
Posted: 4 June
Offer description

The Jerky Co is a family‐owned Western Australian‐founding national company that takes premium air‐dried meats to a new level of flavour & quality. We achieve this by producing our products using the finest MSA grade WA beef marinated for over 24 hours and only top‐quality ingredients from family recipes that date back 20+ years.

The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced Factory Operations Manager to head up our manufacture and processing facility, lead our three factory managers, and be the connective tissue between our Perth Head Office and our growing national network. This is a hands‐on role for someone who thrives on making things run better, faster, and smarter.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead and manage factory managers across Production, Processing, and Packaging & Inventory - setting priorities, building capability in the management layer, and ensuring day‐to‐day operations run seamlessly.
* Oversee end‐to‐end production operations, aligning orders with sales forecasts to keep things moving smoothly.
* Drive the accuracy and pace of order fulfilment across online, retail store, and wholesale channels.
* Oversee delivery logistics - including airport transfers, freight, and holiday period planning.
* Own HACCP compliance and workplace health and safety (WHS) across the factory, driving regular monitoring and continuous improvement.
* Assist managers in schedules, rostering, and cross‐coverage planning to maintain output during leave periods.
* Oversee factory maintenance, coordinating trades and preventative maintenance schedules to minimise downtime and keep equipment running reliably.
* Establish and monitor key operational KPIs across production, quality, and fulfilment to drive performance and accountability.
* Identify and implement process improvements that support our ability to scale.

About You

Qualifications & Experience

* Proven experience in a leadership role within manufacturing operations, ideally in FMCG or food production.
* Experience managing team leaders, supervisors, or department managers.
* Working knowledge of HACCP, food safety management systems, and workplace health and safety (WHS) requirements.
* Comfortable working with operational systems, reporting tools, and production planning software.

Skills & Capabilities

* Strong people leadership and team development capability, with the ability to set direction across multiple departments and build a culture of accountability.
* Cross‐functional coordination skills - comfortable working across production, logistics, and commercial teams.
* A continuous improvement mindset with a track record of identifying and implementing process changes.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to manage up and across the business.

What We Offer

* Full‐time role – Monday to Friday
* Competitive salary based on experience.
* The opportunity to grow with an expanding national brand.
* A role where you'll genuinely shape how the business operates and grows.
* A supportive and hardworking team behind you.

Valid Australian work rights are required for the position.
