About the Role
We are seeking a Business Development Manager to join the Adelaide branch and play a pivotal role in its growth and future leadership. This is a career-building opportunity for a driven sales professional who understands the freight forwarding industry and is looking to progress into a Branch Manager position in the near future.
Reporting to the Regional Manager and working alongside a lean, capable local team, you’ll focus primarily on new business development complemented by the management of key accounts. You’ll be mentored by senior leaders and play a direct role in shaping the branch’s growth strategy, consolidating FAK routes, and influencing weekly commercial planning.
Key Responsibilities
* Identify, pursue, and win new business opportunities in freight forwarding (air and/or sea) through proactive outreach, networking, and strategic planning
* Build strong relationships with decision-makers in target verticals, positioning the company as their logistics provider of choice
* Leverage market insights to develop tailored transport and logistics solutions for customers in sectors like wine, perishables, and general cargo
* Manage and grow a small portfolio of existing accounts, identifying upselling and cross-selling opportunities
* Collaborate with internal operational, finance, and international teams to ensure seamless end-to-end customer service
* Actively contribute to the local branch strategy, operations alignment, and commercial decision-making
* Use CRM and reporting tools to monitor performance, manage pipeline activity, and meet minimum activity levels and targets
* Prepare and present quotes and proposals, conduct contract negotiations, and manage onboarding of new clients
About You
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:
* Proven experience in international freight forwarding (air or sea), ideally in a outbound sales or client-facing role
* A strong network within Adelaide’s import/export or food & beverage/logistics sectors (wine experience advantageous)
* A self-motivated approach with a hunger for new business and a strategic mindset
* The ability to operate autonomously while contributing to team success
* Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
* Commercial acumen, attention to detail, and the ability to drive results through consultative selling
* A genuine interest in taking the next step into a leadership role

* Competitive base salary of up to $120,000 (exp. dependent) + performance-based commissions
