About the role
We are seeking a qualified Diesel Motor Mechanic to join our workshop team in Horsham, Victoria. The successful applicant will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining and repairing diesel engines and associated mechanical systems for heavy vehicles and equipment.
Key duties and responsibilities
* Diagnosing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults in diesel engines and heavy vehicle systems using diagnostic tools and equipment
* Performing scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance and repairs on diesel-powered trucks, trailers and other heavy vehicles
* Inspecting, testing and repairing engine components, fuel systems, braking systems, transmissions and other mechanical parts
* Replacing or repairing defective parts and ensuring all repairs meet manufacturer specifications and safety standards
* Conducting routine inspections and safety checks to ensure vehicles and equipment are operating safely and efficiently
* Maintaining accurate records of services, repairs, parts used and maintenance schedules
* Using technical manuals, schematics and diagnostic software to identify and rectify faults
* Liaising with supervisors and other workshop staff to prioritise and complete maintenance tasks
* Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with workplace health and safety policies and procedures
* Maintaining a clean and safe workshop environment and assisting with training or guidance of apprentices when required
Skills & Qualifications required
* Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology, Automotive Diesel Engine Technology, or equivalent trade qualification
* Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience as a diesel mechanic or heavy vehicle mechanic
* Experience servicing and repairing diesel-powered vehicles and heavy equipment
* Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic tools
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* A valid driver's licence (heavy vehicle licence advantageous)

Pay: $70,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
