About the role
Set to open in July 2026 on the Geelong Waterfront, Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre will be Australia's newest convention and event centre operated by the Victorian Convention and Event Trust (VCET). This premier venue features a 1,000‐seat theatre and 3,700 square metres of versatile event space ready to host everything from community gatherings to major conferences and entertainment events.
What You'll Be Doing
* Assist with all aspects of floor service—including welcoming and seating customers, taking orders, delivering food and beverages, and maintaining a clean dining area—with support from senior staff.
* Supply, dispense or mix liquor, maintain bar and cellar areas and equipment, prepare the bar for service, take orders and serve drinks.
* Provide food and beverage service across a variety of settings—including buffets, kiosks, cafés, and formal gala dinners—and carry up to three plates at a time.
* Prepare and assemble a variety of food items, including heating pre‐prepared meals and creating simple dishes such as quick‐serve items, salads, and toasted products.
* Set up and dismantle a variety of spaces—including cafés, bars, retail areas and formal gala dinner configurations—arranging furniture and tables.
Qualifications
* Previous experience in a food & beverage or hospitality role.
* Ability to work in a fast‐paced, physically demanding environment.
* Strong teamwork skills with a positive and reliable attitude.
* Flexible availability across weekdays and weekends.
* Professional presentation and attention to detail.
* Barista experience (highly regarded).
