This is a 6 month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 3, 2026 with possible extension and/or permanency.

The School

Champion Bay Senior High School (CBSHS) is the largest independent public school in the Midwest region of Western Australia. The Location and Community

The City of Greater Geraldton (CGG) is one of nine regions of WA and has much to offer in terms of sport, culture and tourism. With a population of approximately 40,000, the CGG covers an area of about 472,000 square kilometres and includes the towns of Mullewa and Walkaway. Apart from sporting and cultural activities, Geraldton offers a quality lifestyle. It is the centre of the WA rock‐lobster industry and a productive agricultural region. Geraldton Port Authority moves grain, mineral sands, iron ore and other goods. During the wild‐flower season, the outlying areas of Geraldton are renowned for their stunning wildflowers.

The Role

The successful applicant will promote and foster student engagement and academic achievement in a supportive environment where success is celebrated. Flexibility in practice, commitment to personal and professional growth and collaboration within the school community and neighbouring schools are highly regarded.

The applicant should be student‐ and relationship‐focused, innovative, motivated, and able to work collaboratively in team environments. The applicant should have the professional knowledge, understandings and experience to develop and implement an engaging and relevant secondary school Health and Physical Education curriculum. An expert practitioner should commit to excellence in teaching and regular self‐reflection. A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or willingness to complete) is highly desirable.

Teachers at CBSHS are expected to provide integrated, personalised, authentic learning experiences. Ideal candidates have knowledge of High Impact Teaching Strategies (Teachwell or similar), formative assessment, and a Classroom Management System for building positive relationships and engaging families. Teachers will commit to developing and implementing our school‐wide pedagogical framework.

The school has a strong STEAM focus and works in partnership with local primary schools, industry and tertiary education. The ideal applicant will develop innovative classroom practices using the school's ICT infrastructure and embed 21st‐century skills.

Teachers and administrators in 2026 are eligible for a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $2 000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro‐rated for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff receive a percentage on commencement, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed until the end of the school year for the second payment.

The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply at this school.

Eligibility
* Hold an eligible teacher qualification and registration.
* Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or hold a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.

* Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
