About the Opportunity

The Workshop Supervisor is central to the effective leadership and operation of the Mechanical Cutting Components workshop. You will oversee and guide a skilled team, ensuring day‐to‐day activities run smoothly, quotations are completed accurately and on time, and work in progress is carefully planned and tracked to meet customer and business requirements.

Alongside your supervisory responsibilities, you will maintain the flexibility to step into hands‐on assembly or production tasks when required, leading by example and supporting workflow continuity.

You will lead, mentor, and coordinate a dedicated team, manage resources efficiently, and drive quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance productivity, safety, and overall performance. Working in a fast‐paced, dynamic environment, you will balance competing priorities, uphold strong safety and compliance standards, and actively foster a positive, collaborative team culture focused on delivering outstanding results for our customers.

Responsibilities

* Act in full compliance with Sandvik's Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Vision to achieve Zero Harm.
* Act in accordance with the Sandvik Leadership Model, promoting accountability, collaboration, and integrity in all leadership actions.
* Monitor team performance to ensure adherence to service standards, behavioural expectations, and professional development goals.
* Supervise day‐to‐day workshop operations to ensure production schedules, targets, and quality standards are consistently met.
* Manage workflow prioritisation, resource allocation, and job scheduling to optimise operational efficiency and on‐time delivery.
* Train and monitor teams to ensure service and technical standards are consistently integrated into all customer‐facing interactions.
* Carry out repairs, maintenance and fault diagnostics work on components.
* Coordination of warranty claims as per SMC's warranty policies.
* Work with the Service and Operations Manager and Quality manager to ensure that Sandvik AS3584 compliance is maintained ensuring that the workshop accreditation of a RSF is maintained this will involve both internal and external audits.

About you

We are seeking a Newcastle‐based candidate with an Australian‐recognised Mechanical Trade Certification and proven experience in the mining industry. You will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a clear customer‐focused mindset. The ability to stay motivated, meet performance targets, and lead a collaborative, high‐performing team is essential. Intermediate computer skills and a Class C manual driver's licence are required.
