About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and customer focused IT Desktop Support Officer to join our IT team on a part time basis. This role is critical in ensuring the stability, security, and smooth operation of our IT environment across Australia and offshore teams. You will provide frontline technical support and help maintain a secure, reliable, and efficient IT environment within a modern Microsoft 365 and cybersecurity-focused organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 desktop support across Windows and Microsoft 365 environments

Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and user issues efficiently

Set up and configure desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and peripherals

Manage service desk tickets with strong customer service and SLA adherence

Perform patching, updates, and software installations to maintain security and compliance

Maintain accurate IT asset inventory and documentation

Support onboarding and offboarding processes (accounts, devices, permissions)

Assist with video conferencing and meeting room IT setups

Monitor compliance with IT policies and report any security concerns

Collaborate with internal IT teams and vendors on support and project initiatives

About You

You are a hands-on IT professional with strong problem-solving skills, a customer-first mindset, and the ability to work independently during core support hours.

This role would suit someone who enjoys taking initiative, solving problems independently, and contributing to continuous improvement across the business.

Skills & Experience Required

Minimum 2+ years' experience in IT support or a similar role

Strong experience supporting Windows 10/11 and Microsoft 365 environments

Hands-on experience with:

Active Directory (user and group management)

Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and Microsoft 365 Admin Centre

Exchange Online administration

Experience with:

Hardware setup, imaging, and troubleshooting

Virtual environments (Hyper-V or VMware)

Remote Desktop Services / Terminal Services

Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals

Experience with Sophos Central (Endpoint / MDR / XDR administration or monitoring)

Strong documentation and organisational skills

Desirable (but not essential)

Experience in ISO 27001 administration, compliance activities, or similar roles

Exposure to NIST or SOC 2 frameworks

Experience supporting cybersecurity tools (endpoint protection, patching, awareness training)

Experience working in a multi-site or hybrid environment

What You'll Be Doing Beyond Support

Maintaining IT documentation, procedures, and asset registers

Supporting cybersecurity initiatives and compliance activities

Assisting with IT audits and policy adherence

Contributing to continuous improvement of IT support processes
