Job Summary
In this role, you will lead design, development, modification, evaluation, and selection of bulk solids handling components and processes; in particular crushing technology and equipment. Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project's mechanical aspects are met. You will also be required to conduct field investigations and client interviews, to investigate issues, determine work scope, and create cost estimates for bulk solids handling studies and projects. This position is designated as part‐time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in‐person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in‐person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.
Major Responsibilities
* Plans and conducts independent scope of work and technical specifications for mechanical design and field investigations on large size projects or assignments in support of a global business unit
* Leads the design, development, modification and evaluation of bulk solids handling components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
* Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management
* Develops conceptual designs for bulk solids handling engineering projects or projects having specialized or unique requirements
* Supports preparation of estimates, staffing needs and schedules
* Interviews client personnel to determine their needs, develops scope for cost estimates for services and participates in proposal preparation and presentation
* Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and supports implementation and assists with performance reporting
* Interprets new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data
* Conducts or leads special studies of new engineering methods, materials and techniques
* Mentors engineering personnel by providing on‐the‐job training for their professional development; provides input to and participates in special technical educational and training programs as directed
Education and Experience Requirements
* Requires a bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 15 years of relevant experience in the field of bulk solids handling design and / or field implementation
* Preferred 5 years of experience in crushing equipment and/or process design
Required Knowledge and Skills
* The successful applicant will have experience with the use of a relevant software package for conveyor, crusher and screen design and selection
* Experience with commissioning and / or maintenance of crushing, screening and conveying systems
* Experience in the design, construction, commissioning, operations and maintenance of stockyard and port rail‐mounted machines will be well regarded
* It is anticipated that the successful applicant will have experience in a client‐facing role, has leadership experience with small to medium sized teams and can express solutions in a clear manner
