Supervising Scientist - Chemistry
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council (PMHC) is seeking an experienced and motivated Supervising Scientist - Chemistry to join the Environmental Laboratory (PMHEL) where you will supervise, lead and mentor a skilled and dedicated team, oversee critical water quality testing, and advance your career in a state‑of‑the‑art laboratory setting.
Location & Employment
- Port Macquarie, New South Wales
- Full‑time, Permanent – 35 hours per week
- Salary (exclusive of super): $107,977 – $120,860
- Performance‑based increase available after 12 months
About the Laboratory
PMHEL is a purpose‑built facility on the Charles Sturt University Campus that delivers high‑quality services in sampling, analysis, reporting, consultation and advice. It is NATA accredited for both chemical and biological testing.
To Succeed In This Role, You Will Need To
- Demonstrate strong leadership and mentoring skills
- Possess technical expertise in environmental chemical analysis
- Be highly organised and detail‑orientated
- Communicate effectively across teams and with stakeholders
- Understand and have experience with NATA accreditation requirements
- Champion quality assurance, safety and process improvement
- Adapt to changing priorities and technologies
