Primary Objective
Co‐coordinate the maintenance function in accordance with the preventive and breakdown maintenance plan and ensure that safety, quality and cost parameters are optimally met. Provide leadership and direction to the processing plant maintenance employees through clear work instructions, defined expectations and regular monitoring of work practices. Identify and implement plant improvements particularly as they relate to the maintenance function.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance
* Support any production (lost time) or maintenance problems and conduct root cause analysis to recommend solutions that prevent recurrence.
* Ensure all engineering performance data is collected and analysed.
* Maintain accurate and up‐to‐date engineering data relating to the maintenance function.
* Follow and add to the weekly maintenance plan to ensure all breakdown, unplanned and planned work is completed timely.
* Professionally manage the trades group.
* Coach trade groups.
* Reinforce agreed boundaries, behaviours and disciplines for the trades group.
* Ensure that work stays within the maintenance budget.
* Co‐ordinate a maintenance plan for trade people on a daily or weekly basis.
* Plan and organise equipment, parts and tools for work requirements.
* Prioritise workload based on criticality.
* Support all maintenance data to be accurately maintained and updated, including computer records.
* Ensure information and skills are passed on through shift discussions and shift handover.
* Work with the Production Supervisor and Plant Maintenance Manager to secure adequate maintenance windows of opportunity.
* Discuss with the Plant Maintenance Manager on issues that impact processing plant reliability and maintenance.
Engineering
* Ensure equipment is maintained to manufacturer specifications.
* Work with unit personnel to develop engineering solutions.
* Manage contractors.
* Identify, source and stock relevant spare parts.
Quality
* Adhere to HACCP and ensure all work complies with GMP standards.
* Co‐ordinate QA issues raised relative to maintenance responsibilities.
* Assist in implementing a culture of performance excellence encompassing safety, quality, customer service and continuous improvement.
OHS
* Support and implement, with the OHS Officer, an Occupational Health and Safety Program aimed at eliminating lost‐time injuries.
* Analyse injuries with the Injury Manager and establish a preventative program including inspection programmes.
* Complete accident investigations and conduct root cause analysis.
* Conduct all planned inspections effectively.
Training
* Prepare and implement work instructions consistent with quality improvement, OH&S and quality policies and procedures and assist with SOPs required for the maintenance department.
* Work with the trades group and HR to develop and update training material to ensure all personnel receive adequate training.
* Develop work instructions in conjunction with the Plant Maintenance Manager.
* Prepare and present training modules with HR.
* Conduct assessments.
* Ensure procedures are in place and signed off by trade personnel.
Reporting
* Prepare maintenance reports including shift handovers.
Maintenance Records
* Ensure all records are maintained accurately, timely and effectively.
