We are seeking a dedicated Offset Press Assistant to join our production team in Mulgrave, Victoria. This is an opportunity to join a friendly, supportive environment where your reliability and commitment will directly impact our operations and success.
About the Role:
This full-time position, on a rotating shift (Morning & Afternoon), is ideal for someone looking to develop a career in offset printing. As an Offset Press Assistant, you will work closely with our skilled Printers, providing crucial support to ensure our multi-colour presses run smoothly and efficiently. This hands-on role involves preparing materials, assisting with machine operation, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist the Printer with machine setup, wash-ups, and changeovers.
* Manage stock control, ensuring the correct paper stock is available and loaded safely onto the press feeder.
* Prepare and mix inks, managing all required consumables for the job run.
* Monitor press operation and assist the Printer with maintenance tasks and troubleshooting.
* Perform essential quality control checks on printed sheets during the run.
* Ensure the press area is kept clean, organised, and compliant with all safety standards.
* Assist with moving, stacking, and organising finished printed work safely for the next stage of production.
Ideal Candidate:
* Some prior experience in a production, manufacturing, or print environment is preferred, but strong reliability and a willingness to learn are essential.
* Physically fit and comfortable with the manual aspects of the role, including heavy lifting (stock handling).
* High level of attention to detail, particularly concerning colour matching, cleanliness, and quality checks.
* Mechanically minded and eager to learn the technical aspects of offset printing machinery.
* Highly motivated, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a close-knit production team.
* A strong commitment to workplace safety and following instructions precisely.
