The Role
The Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for leading the delivery of maintenance services at Southern Ports Esperance, including planning, scheduling, execution, and shutdown coordination. Based in Esperance, this role requires the successful applicant to reside in Esperance or be willing to relocate to Esperance. The position ensures all port assets are maintained in alignment with the strategic asset management plan and agreed levels of service.
Providing strong leadership, the Maintenance Superintendent guides, supports, and develops the maintenance team to achieve organisational goals and drive high performance.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Lead & Develop the Maintenance Team Provide strong leadership, coaching and support to maintenance personnel to enable a high performance culture and effective delivery of maintenance services. Drive implementation of work management processes and ensure all team members remain appropriately trained and competent.
* Champion a Positive Safety Culture Lead by example to foster a proactive safety culture where employees feel confident to follow procedures and raise concerns. Ensure safe systems of work are in place, understood and consistently applied.
* Drive Asset Reliability & Risk-Based Maintenance Prioritise maintenance activities based on asset risk. Embed Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) and Risk Based Inspection (RBI) practices, working closely with engineering stakeholders to reduce risk and improve asset reliability.
* Oversee Contractor & Vendor Performance Manage contractor engagement processes including task scoping, RFQs and procurement compliance. Monitor contractor performance to ensure work quality, risk mitigation and continuous improvement.
* Deliver Maintenance Performance & Continuous Improvement Establish and implement maintenance performance metrics aligned to asset management objectives. Support teams to identify improvement opportunities and embed a culture of continuous improvement.
* Align Operations with Strategic & Organisational Objectives Ensure maintenance execution supports Southern Ports' Asset Management Strategy and organisational goals, with sound decision-making aligned to corporate values and business context.
Required
* Trade qualification in Electrical or Mechanical fields
* Extensive experience in maintenance management roles within mining, ports, or heavy infrastructure industries
* Extensive experience in leadership roles
* Maintenance Work Management Processes & Systems
* Project Management principles and concepts
* Leadership and management
Preferred
* Qualification in Asset Management
* Qualification in Leadership and/or Management
