About the role
As a Technical Officer, you will play an important part in supporting high-quality laboratory operations by carrying out a range of technical activities that contribute to reliable testing, research and service delivery. Working both independently and as part of a collaborative team, you will apply your technical knowledge to ensure tasks are completed safely, accurately and in line with established procedures. Your role will be central to maintaining smooth daily operations and supporting the broader objectives of the laboratory.
In this position, you will perform duties that require practical expertise, attention to detail and sound judgement. You will apply standardised practices and procedures across a variety of technical tasks, while also contributing to project-based work that draws on your growing applied knowledge and experience. Whether working individually or alongside colleagues, you will support quality outcomes by ensuring consistency, accuracy and an ongoing commitment to best practice.
About You
You will bring a strong foundation in laboratory practice, supported by a Diploma or Advanced Diploma in a recognised qualification. You are someone who thrives in a structured environment, can work independently with confidence, and contributes positively to a collaborative team culture. Your commitment to accuracy, professionalism and safe work practices ensures high-quality outcomes in every task you undertake.
To excel in this role, you will draw on your technical skills, customer service mindset and ability to manage competing priorities. Your communication skills, problem-solving capability and willingness to learn will support you to work effectively across a range of laboratory activities.
Key requirements include:
* Technical competence & organisation: Experience in laboratory settings, strong task prioritisation skills, and the ability to complete variable workloads accurately and on time.
* Communication & teamwork: Effective verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and a collaborative approach to working within team environments.
* Professionalism & judgement: Ability to work under limited supervision, maintain confidentiality, follow instructions, and exercise initiative to resolve problems.
* Laboratory & safety knowledge: Understanding of laboratory principles, general scientific practice and Work Health and Safety requirements, supported by sound numerical, keyboard and software skills.
