Rocky Ring Road – FRP Roles – ROBAR Group – Major Bridge Construction Works

Union Site | Highly Competitive Rates | Local Workers Highly Regarded

ROBAR Group is seeking skilled FRP crews for major bridge construction works on the Rockhampton Ring Road. Join a national civil construction leader delivering long‐term infrastructure across Queensland.

Project Highlights

* 20‐month major works package on the Rockhampton Ring Road
* Long‐term opportunities for experienced FRP and bridge construction workers
* Union site with highly competitive rates
* Local Central Queensland candidates are highly regarded
* ROBAR Group is a leading civil contractor with a national footprint

About the Project

ROBAR Group is delivering major civil infrastructure works across Australia, backed by extensive experience in bridge construction and complex FRP delivery. We are now recruiting for a significant 20‐month scope on the Rockhampton Ring Road, including the construction of five bridges.

This is an excellent opportunity to secure long‐term work on a landmark Queensland project.

We are seeking experienced FRP (Form, Reinforce, Pour) crew members for ongoing work across all bridge structures. All roles directly support heavy FRP delivery and bridge construction.

Available Roles

Steelfixers - Responsible for installing reinforcement for bridge abutments, headstocks, piers, crossheads, and deck slabs. Duties include tying large reinforcement cages, working with complex bar arrangements, reading detailed steel schedules, and ensuring correct placement for high‐spec structural elements.

Formworkers - Responsible for constructing and stripping formwork for all bridge components, including pier stems, headstocks, abutments, barriers, and deck formwork systems. Candidates must be confident with traditional and modular systems, able to set out to tight tolerances, and prepare formwork for large structural pours.

Concreters - Responsible for placing, vibrating, screeding, and finishing concrete for structural bridge pours. Experience with high‐strength mixes, staged pours, and achieving quality finishes on critical structural elements is highly regarded.

Telehandler Operators - Responsible for supporting FRP crews by safely transporting reinforcement, formwork materials, precast components, and construction equipment around active bridge sites. Operators must be confident working in tight areas and assisting with lift preparation and material logistics.

Dogmen & Riggers - Responsible for supporting crane operations during the lifting of reinforcement cages, formwork shutters, precast elements, and other heavy bridge components. Candidates must have experience in complex lifts, working around bridge structures, and maintaining strict safety controls.

Labourers - Responsible for assisting FRP crews with material handling, site preparation, cleaning formwork, supporting concrete pours, and general labouring tasks. Experience on bridge decks, piers, or heavy civil structures is highly beneficial.

What We're Looking For

* Strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork
* Proven civil infrastructure experience, ideally within FRP or bridge scopes
* Ability to work independently and contribute to a productive crew
* Physically fit, reliable, and committed to long‐term project work
* DIDO/FIFO options available, with a full FIFO package (flights + accommodation)

Required Qualifications

* White Card
* Relevant tickets/qualifications for your role
* Full Australian Driver's Licence
* Strong FRP experience on civil projects
* For Concreters: proven skills in set‐out, screeding, and finishing

Why Join ROBAR Group?

* Union site with highly competitive rates
* Ongoing casual roles with consistent full‐time hours
* Supportive, inclusive, safety‐driven culture
* Long‐term career development and progression opportunities
* Comprehensive FIFO package (flights + accommodation)
* Work with a contractor experienced in major bridge infrastructure

Employment Details

* Ongoing casual basis with full‐time hours
* Based on the Rockhampton Ring Road project, with additional works across Queensland
* DIDO or FIFO options available
