What's the role?
Reporting to the Head of Vision for Free News and Lifestyle, the news.com.au Video Chief of Staff is heavily involved in the day-to-day operation of video across the site and social media platforms (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook). The role includes managing a team to produce long and short‑form video packages across breaking news, entertainment, sport, travel and lifestyle content.
Key Responsibilities
* Pitch breaking news stories as well as other genres such as entertainment, lifestyle, travel and sport.
* Lead the newsroom: direct and manage a team of video producers to ensure timely, accurate, and high‑quality reporting.
* Work closely with the head of vision to define and shape the daily direction, ensuring content aligns with news.com.au vision.
* Be involved in longer‑form video coverage for the news.com.au investigations team.
* Coordinate reporting efforts: ensure seamless collaboration between the newsroom, editors and other departments to meet deadlines and produce engaging, informative video content.
* Coordinate shift rosters and resource allocation for the video team.
Who are you?
* At least 3‑5 years of experience running a team in the news or entertainment digital news environment.
* Possesses a keen eye for video storytelling and knows how to connect with an audience.
* Strong communication and time‑management skills.
* Have a solid understanding of publishing to social platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, Facebook and Instagram.
* Knowledge of Premiere Pro and video editing.
