About the Roles
We are seeking multiple candidates at the APS4 level located in Brisbane or Robina (QLD) or Burnie (TAS) to join our Commonwealth Government client’s Payroll and People Advisory Centre teams. Multiple full‑time roles are available for candidates with experience in delivering payroll processing and / or HR advisory services.
An initial 12‑month labour hire contract is on offer, with a possible 12‑month extension. We anticipate a start date in early‑November 2025.
Please note: only Australian citizens with the ability to obtain / maintain a Baseline security clearance can be considered for these roles.
APS4 Payroll Officer
Duties
- Perform general payroll processing to establish and maintain accurate staff records.
- Maintain and file documents in line with agency record management protocols.
- Process salaries, entitlements, and assess payment / leave eligibility according to legislation, policy, and enterprise agreements.
- Investigate and resolve payroll errors, including overpayments, ensuring compliance with audit requirements.
- Provide advice and assistance on payroll matters to managers, staff, and clients.
- Contribute to process improvements and participate in payroll‑related projects as required.
Requisite skills / experience
- Experience with payroll processing systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly spreadsheet tools.
- Strong accuracy, attention to detail, and sound mathematical skills.
- Ability to organise and manage work independently or as part of a team, balancing competing priorities.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, stakeholder engagement, and problem‑solving skills.
APS4 Human Resources Advisor
Duties
- Provide high‑quality and consistent advice on people‑related matters, delivering excellent customer service via phone and email.
- Resolve complex or sensitive queries in consultation with senior staff, escalating issues as needed.
- Assist with complex payroll and HR processing in SAP‑Essentials, and undertake database management.
- Perform general administrative tasks, such as raising purchase orders, reconciling accruals, managing supplies, and contributing to process improvements.
Requisite skills / experience
- Strong knowledge of HR and WHS policies, employment legislation, and privacy principles.
- Understanding of contemporary recruitment and HR management practices.
- Proficiency in HR and / or payroll systems (e.g., SAP & Essentials), telephony, and computer tools.
- Ability to critically analyse customer enquiries, tailor advice and support, and demonstrate high‑level written and verbal communication and customer engagement skills.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and apply sound judgement and problem‑solving abilities.
