Automation Analyst
We're seeking an experienced Automation Analyst to join our Quality Assurance team and drive testing excellence across Auto & General's digital ecosystem. You'll design, develop, and maintain comprehensive automated testing solutions that ensure our applications meet rigorous quality standards whilst delivering exceptional customer experiences.
Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will contribute to evolving our automation frameworks, implement strategic testing solutions, and help establish best practices that enable rapid, scalable delivery.
Your Team
These roles will be part of a collaborative Automation Testing Team within the Technology division, reporting to the Test Lead. The team partners with developers, product managers, and business stakeholders to deliver high-performance solutions.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop robust, maintainable UI automation scripts using Playwright and Cypress, translating user stories and acceptance criteria into effective test scenarios.
* Contribute to the design, enhancement, and scaling of our automation frameworks to support current and future testing needs.
* Apply industry best practices for test automation, including clean code principles, peer code reviews, and documentation standards.
* Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines using Bamboo and GitLab to provide rapid feedback on code quality and system stability.
* Execute, monitor, and continuously refine our automated regression suites, analyze results, and collaborate with teams on defect resolution.
* Develop and implement testing strategies that reduce manual effort, improve efficiency, and support business goals.
* Document test assets, share learnings with the team, and mentor others in automation best practices.
* Leverage modern tools such as ACE and Copilot to enhance automation script development and defect analysis.
What You’ll Bring
* Essential Experience: Minimum 3 years as an Automation Analyst, QA Automation Engineer, or similar role; proven expertise with UI automation frameworks (Playwright, Cypress); strong knowledge of CI/CD platforms and version control (Bamboo, Bitbucket, GitLab); proficiency in building and extending test frameworks using Java or C#; solid understanding of REST API testing principles and tools; excellent communication skills; and a pragmatic, solution-focused mindset.
* Highly Desirable: Experience with both UI automation and API/unit testing frameworks (e.g., JUnit); familiarity with DevOps toolchains (Gradle, JFrog Artifactory); knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP); containerisation experience (Kubernetes) and monitoring tools (New Relic, DataDog); background in financial services or regulated industries; active involvement with professional technology bodies or communities.
