Life Days are the Leidos way of recognising that we all need extra time to take care of life. By working slightly more than the minimum weekly hours (2 hours per week for full‐timers), you can accrue up to 12 days of leave per year.
Due to the nature of the role, you must be an Australian Citizen and hold an active NV-2 AGVSA Security Clearance (or above).
Your New Role and Responsibilities
The Data Governance Specialist oversees data custodianship, access control, and compliance in line with Defence data frameworks, ensuring the systems effectively support DIE data strategy, governance, retention, and secure data lifecycle management.
This newly established role supports a Sydney‐based Defence customer operating within a bespoke enterprise environment.
Responsibilities include:
* Support implementation and operation of ISR data governance, ensuring compliance with Defence Data Strategy, DIE Data Strategy, and legislative frameworks.
* Ensure effective data retention, access control, metadata tagging, marking, archiving, and disposal across the solution and related systems.
* Monitor regulatory compliance, support informed decision‐making, and drive improvements to performance, reliability, and long‐term solution viability.
* Provide end‐to‐end leadership and support for a high‐quality, reliable IT service supporting Defence operations.
* Coordinate technical SMEs and vendors, influence diverse stakeholders, manage competing priorities, and contribute to continuous service improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree and/or certifications in data analysis, information management, ICT, mathematics, statistics, or equivalent practical experience.
* Prior experience in Defence or Australian National Intelligence Community environments (highly desirable).
* Experience working with large‐scale data sets in enterprise environments, including data tagging, retention, and compliance; ITIL v3/4 knowledge or certification.
* Proficiency with information management systems, analytical tools, and understanding of enterprise compute and data management platforms.
* Strong written and verbal communication, ability to operate autonomously, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively in high‐pressure environments.
