Help make a difference to the young people in care in regional Western Australia.

About Therapeutic Residential Care

Therapeutic Residential Care is an intensive 24/7 care arrangement for a cohort of young people in the care of the Department of Communities (Communities). It is a statewide service with group care houses in the metropolitan area and throughout the regions.

The homes can accommodate up to 4 young people aged between 10 and 17 years old. The young people have highly complex needs, previous placement instabilities, and are currently not suitable for a family style environment.

Communities’ vision for Therapeutic Residential Care is to:

“Provide a safe and stable home for young people that enables them to heal, connect, learn, and be prepared for their adult lives.”

Responsibilities of the Assistant Directors/Associate Directors working in Therapeutic Care include, but are not limited to:

- Working with other Assistant Directors to develop and contribute to operational frameworks, programs and policies for children in care that ensures the best interests of the young people are at the heart of all decisions.
- Providing a high level of operational advice that identifies risks and the strategies to address them.
- Assisting the Director to deliver the strategic outcomes of the Therapeutic Residential Care directorate.
- Building and maintaining relationships with non-government agencies to produce improved outcomes for the young people.
- Keeping up to date with and providing advice on any relevant national and international trends and issues that may impact the directorate.

Our offer

There is one permanent, full-time chance available. The role is responsible for the homes located in regional Western Australia, and there is flexibility to work from our Metropolitan office (Midland) or to work from another regional office.
