THE ROLE –
* Manage a Caseload & Provide Assertive Outreach: Directly manage a caseload of Youth Justice clients across Gippsland, delivering assertive outreach and support, including planned after-hours responses (2-up model).
* Focus on Strengths-Based Goal Achievement: Utilise an Advantage Thinking framework to collaboratively create goals, build pro-social connections, and promote the young person's strengths.
* Facilitate Transition to Independence: Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify needs (e.g., living skills, presenting issues) and actively assist clients in accessing the information and resources necessary for a successful transition to independence.
* Promote Positive Development & Wellbeing: Develop and implement strategies that motivate, empower, and encourage clients to address challenges, fostering personal growth and long-term wellbeing.
* Build Strong Networks & Linkages: Actively liaise and collaborate with the Youth Justice Gippsland Team, families (when applicable), and external community agencies/networks to ensure effective service delivery, strong relationships, and comprehensive support.
The Ideal Candidate will bring:
* Deep working knowledge of Trauma-Informed and Advantage Thinking frameworks, with the ability to recognise trauma-related behaviours and implement effective engagement and intervention strategies.
* Proven understanding of the Youth Justice System, factors contributing to youth offending (Criminogenic Needs), and demonstrated capability in working with a high-risk cohort, including detailed risk assessment and safety planning.
* A strong commitment to the principles of social justice, equity, and ethical practice, coupled with the capacity to acknowledge and promote the rights of culturally and other diverse groups.
* Extensive knowledge of best-practice case management principles for young people, with the ability to routinely monitor and evaluate services to ensure the achievement of positive client outcomes while maintaining strict confidentiality standards.
* Demonstrated ability to engage, build strong relationships, and network across government, non-government agencies, and the broader community, along with a positive approach to teamwork and promoting organizational values.
* Valid Victorian Driver's Licence |Working with Children Check |Police Check
* Minimum requirement of Diploma of Community Services or other relevant or appropriate tertiary qualifications and/or experience relevant to this position.
