About The Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Web Developer to join our Technology & Innovation team. In this role, you will play a key part in the development, enhancement, and evolution of enterprise web solutions and digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and maintain enterprise web and portal applications
* Contribute to the evolution of the organisation's API and web technology suite
* Develop scalable, reusable, and high-quality technical solutions
* Improve existing web capabilities through modern development practices and innovative thinking
* Design and develop user interfaces for internet and intranet applications
* Coordinate development activities including requirements gathering, scheduling, troubleshooting, and deployment support
* Conduct code reviews and provide guidance to junior developers
* Maintain and improve coding standards, documentation, and development processes
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality digital outcomes
* Identify opportunities for system and application improvements and recommend effective solutions
* Mentor team members and contribute to knowledge sharing within the organisation
* Stay up to date with emerging technologies, tools, and industry best practices
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate strong technical capability combined with excellent collaboration and problem-solving skills.
* Strong experience with:
o Core Java
o JDBC, JSP, Servlets, and Portlets (JSR 268)
o PHP
o HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Ajax, and jQuery
o Highcharts and Google Maps/Chart APIs
* Experience with IBM WebSphere Portal Server 8.5+
* Experience with IDEs such as Rational Application Developer and Eclipse
* Experience with IBM HTTP Server and Apache web servers
* Strong understanding of web standards, development methodologies, and object-oriented programming
* Experience working with relational database management systems and complex database structures
* Experience with version control tools
* Understanding of browser compatibility and client/server internet architectures
