Duties and Responsibilities
* Preparing and organizing ingredients, including cleaning, cutting, and marinating meat, vegetables, and other food items.
* Follow recipes and portion sizes to ensure consistency in taste and presentation.
* Using appropriate cooking techniques such as grilling, frying, baking, sautéing, roasting, and steaming to achieve desired flavors and textures.
* Contributing to menu planning by suggesting new dishes, creating specials, and considering dietary restrictions or customer preferences.
* Collaborating with the chef or kitchen manager in developing current recipes.
* Adhering to strict hygiene and safety standards to maintain a clean and sanitary work environment.
* Following proper food handling procedures, monitoring food storage temperatures, and ensuring that all equipment and utensils are cleaned and sanitized.
* Paying attention to food presentation, arranging and garnishing dishes to enhance their visual appeal.
* Monitoring the quality and taste of the food prepared.
* Tasting and adjusting seasonings as necessary and ensuring that the final product meets the establishment's standards for flavor, texture, and appearance.
* Managing time effectively to ensure that all dishes are prepared and served in a timely manner.
* Collaborating with other cooks, chefs, and kitchen staff to coordinate food preparation and ensure smooth operations during busy periods.
* Tracking ingredient quantities, placing orders for supplies, and rotating stock to minimize waste.
* Handling multiple tasks simultaneously, such as preparing multiple dishes, monitoring cooking times, and attending to special requests or dietary restrictions.
Candidate Requirements
* Education: Certificate III or Certificate IV or Diploma.
* Experience: At least 3 years of Australian experience or 3+ years of overseas experience.
* Specialist: Cooking.
* Work Rights: Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or Full Work Rights Holder.
