We are looking to engage skilled and enthusiastic Capability Analysts & Strategic Writers to join our Federal Government client!
This role is within the Defence environment working on Navy Forward Work initiatives, in Strategic Business Advice and Writing.
Providing strategic documentation support including the analysis and definition of capability problems, requirements development, functional and performance gap mapping, acquisition options analysis, affordability tracking, and business case assurance. This is your chance to make a difference for our Federal Government client in this 12-month contract based at Russell Offices in Canberra.
Australian Citizens who hold or have the ability to maintain an NV1, NV2, or TSPV security clearance will be considered for this role.
Experience/Skills Sought:
* Strategic Writing & Capability Analysis: Exceptional skills in drafting, refining, and polishing high-level capability artefacts and committee documentation.
* Requirements Development: Experience identifying, eliciting, and documenting functional requirements, performance limits, and boundaries.
* Options & Solution Trade-Offs: Ability to contribute to feasibility studies, risk assessments, and affordability considerations to support investment decisions.
* Workshop & Stakeholder Facilitation: Experience running collaborative working groups to extract and align capability intents.
Essential Qualification/Experience/Work Environment:
* Demonstrated experience in supporting project teams through complex Government approval pathways (including First, Second, or Cabinet-level approvals).
* Excellent written plain-speak communication skills, with a background in turning technical jargon into clear, evidence-based executive decision papers.
* Ability to operate as an advisor embedded alongside APS, ADF, and Central Agency stakeholders.
Desirable Qualification/ Skills/ Experience:
* Deep understanding of the One Defence Capability System (ODCS) lifecycle and its respective gateway assurance processes.
* Experience writing across multiple strategic levels (from foundational Practitioner up to Expert Advisor).
