Sundstrom Recruitment is partnering with a national transport and logistics organisation to appoint a newly created Head of HSEQ Business Partnering position.
This is a key leadership role within a large, operationally complex business with approximately with over 2000 employees across nationally. Reporting directly to the GM HSEQ, the role has been created as part of broader business growth, increasing operational demands and a continued focus on strengthening HSEQ capability across the organisation.
This is not a purely compliance driven position. The business is looking for a practical and operationally minded leader who can build relationships, influence culture and partner closely with operational leaders to drive meaningful HSEQ outcomes across the network.
The Opportunity
You will provide national HSEQ leadership and operational support across a broad transport and logistics environment spanning linehaul, warehousing, dangerous goods and heavy haulage operations.
The role oversees a national HSEQ structure, including both direct and indirect reports, while remaining closely connected to frontline operations and site engagement.
Key areas of focus include:
* Partnering with operational leadership teams nationally
* Driving safety culture and visible leadership initiatives
* Supporting the implementation and execution of HSEQ strategy
* Leading critical incident reviews and maintaining investigation qualityCoaching and mentoring HSEQ personnel across the business
* Building strong operational relationships and influencing outcomes
* Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement across sites
About You
The organisation is seeking an experienced HSEQ leader who can operate effectively in fast paced operational environments and confidently engage with frontline teams as well as senior leadership.
You will ideally bring:
* Strong experience within transport, logistics or related heavy industry environments
* A practical operational mindset with credibility on site
* Demonstrated experience influencing safety culture and behaviours
* Strong stakeholder engagement and communication capability
* Experience leading and developing HSEQ teams
* The ability to balance operational priorities with strategic oversight
* Resilience, adaptability and a hands on leadership style
Candidates from broader heavy industry backgrounds may also be considered, particularly those with strong operational exposure.
